Young Collectors kicks-off with 12 Australian Animal $1 coins dated 2008.
Australian Legal Tender
Each 2008-dated coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The 12 reverse designs depict:
Air:
- Palm Cockatoo - Australia’s largest Cockatoo
- Wedge Tailed Eagle - Australia’s largest bird of prey
- Ghost Bat - the only carnivorous bat in Australia
- Splendid Wren – a beautiful bird with brilliant blue plumage

- Echidna – a prickly egg-laying mammal
- Grey Kangaroo - Australia’s most famous marsupial
