Elymais or was an autonomous state of the 2nd century BC to the early 3rd century AD, frequently a vassal under Parthian control, and located at the head of the Persian Gulf.
Elymais struck coins from ca. 150 B.C. until their defeat by the Sasanians in A.D. 227. Most coins show an anchor, perhaps recalling their association with the Seleucid Empire, and the more ancient star-in-crescent symbol of the Achaemenids.
Elymais was the biblical Elam and home of the magi. With its capitol at Susa, it was a small kingdom
Elymais fell to Parthian domination 2nd to 3 rd Centuries
In 187 BC The King Elymais didn’t have enough funds to pay Roman demands and robbed gold and silver from holy sites and this helped in his downfall
So interesting This small enclave could not last between Roman and Persian demands and was taken over by Parthian empire
