Additional Notes: The rarer type in Britannia Silver. When the UK decided to mint it's first silver bullion coin, the decision was made to mint in a traditional, British, Silver standard, 958 silver or Britannia Silver. Each coin still contains 1oz of fine silver, which is why the coins weigh a little more than an ounce (much like the South African Gold Krugerrand). This standard was discontinued in 2012 in favour of fine (999) silver for better international understanding.
