Introduced in 1996, the long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series features the 12 animals of the lunar zodiac. This 2024 release celebrates the dragon, whose rule over every fifth year in the 12-year lunar cycle is said to bestow bravery, wisdom, ambition, and success on people born under its influence.
Gilded design
The coin portrays a dragon which has been gilded in 24-carat gold. Included in the design is the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’, the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary in 2024.
Memorial Obverse
The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. Also on the obverse is the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination, and year-date.
Presentation case
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin comes in a classic display case with a clear lid, and an illustrated shipper.
