The second releases in the Star Trek series feature Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted in 1987, and ran for seven seasons until 1994. Set in the Milky Way Galaxy, the first season takes place in 2364, featuring a new crew and a new starship, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

Iconic Star Trek Design

The Captain Jean-Luc Picard coin’s reverse portrays a colour image of Sir Patrick Stewart OBE as Captain Jean-Luc Picard as he appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation, against a representation of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D and the inscription CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD. The design also includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight and fineness.

The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D coin’s reverse portrays a colour image of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D flying through space as it appeared in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. The design includes the inscription STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight and fineness.

Tuvalu Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2015 year-date are shown on each coin’s obverse.

Issue Limit

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the 2015 Star Trek: The Next Generation – Captain Jean-Luc Picard & U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D 1oz Silver Proof Two-Coin Set from a maximum mintage of 6,500 of each design.

Themed Presentation Packaging and Numbered Certificate

The two-coin set is housed in a replica of a Star Trek transporter machine which lights up when the lid is opened, inside a custom designed display box within a Star Trek themed shipper. Each set is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
